In everyone's heart there is a barrier or a giant and walls stopping u or challenging u in some ways to reach their meet point, even prides in you which also shows self effort, ur own glory which other words is, man's glory which is temporal. glory and prides comes from God or to Him which is permanent.
btw i felt is true that, man's glory is no use, it cant give you anything, but of course in the process you go through all stuff and earn the glory (works of flesh = fallen creation, which bring nothing.), it brings u nothing and turned u into lonely guy in heart. I rather look to Daddy God's glory for me, "to Him be the glory" who gives me everything when the world cant give me anything because it had been fallen.

they are darkness in u BUT there is also light = Jesus Christ, yeah
darkness in u represents yourself, your own remain works or chains of your mind, eg bad habits.
But thank God for His word which is life, like in the bible.
they refresh our mind/soul and bring life=light into every parts.
it is also one of the reason that we go church, to receive more.
